To maximize seating [especially with children, consider a bench on one side or two. Our greytone treatment option keeps the light colour of the unfinished barnwood we use. Given the age of the wood; there will still be quite a bit of brown. This is a good option if you want the natural colour but don’t want the space to be too dark. Check out this recent harvest table project did for a Quebec home:
