Old growth [original Ontario forest] Hemlock is a rare sight. In Pioneer times, it wasn’t. We see it in plentiful amount of it in old barns. Generally not used in furniture [brittle, slivery, tough to work with]; we get away with it with our modern clearcoat finish. Check out this reclaimed wood harvest table project we did!

Greytone Treatment Option: Keeping the Natural Colour of Unfinished in Reclaimed Wood

Our greytone treatment maintains the colour of unfinished in the old Ontario barnwood, while still allowing for our innovative epoxy + polyurethane finish. Check out this recent hemlock sawbuck table project:

Extendable Reclaimed Hemlock Wood Table with Epoxy Finish

All our tables can extend up to 18″ at either end [total 3 ft extra]. Given the amount of distressing we maintain, center leaves wouldn’t be practical, so we only extend at the ends. We do the leaves in full thickness of the table top; they slide in on heavy duty hardwood rails at the ends. Check out this barnwood trestle table project with extensions:

Reclaimed Ontario barnwood has lots of interesting character arising from years of pioneer / agricultural work over many years. This can be seen in our tables:

Reclaimed Wood Table with Distressed Metal Stainless Steel Base & Epoxy Clearcoat Finish & X Back Chairs

We offer a U Shaped metal base option; custom built to a proportionate size for any table top. For this project, we did a distressed steel version. The reclaimed hemlock barnwood table top contrasts nicely with the industrial style base. We also did custom finished X Back chairs in wormy maple. See pics below!

Ontario Made Reclaimed Wood Table with Epoxy/Polyurethane Finish + Frame Base

We maintain the original distressing in the old Ontario barnwood we use, while making practical with modern clearcoat finishing. We design everything around the way it came out of the old barn. Within the frame style, which tends to vary a lot one project to another depending on customer preferences, we take this approach as well. Our reclaimed wood harvest tables [4 leg style] come with the option of turned, tapered [with a notch], turned or straight barn windbrace beam legs. For this harvest table project the customer opted for the tapered option; see pics below!
