Our bases can be painted to break up a lot of wood grain and make the character table top the centerpiece. We still use reclaimed wood even if it is going to be painted as the texture of the character will be felt through the paint. We did a black with sandthroughs finish on the base of this rustic reclaimed wood harvest table we made for a Caledon, Ontario home. See detailed pics below.
