The first time I saw this type of seating was in a friend’s RV; where space is a limiting factor.
The same can be applied to a home; with bench seating. When built into a wall; bench seating can provide the required back support and negate the need for chairs [which require more space).
Here is an example of such a setup; which we custom built for a home in Toronto, ON.
