Some of our customers prefer to feel the original distressing of the wood, while still having the practicality of a durable/waterproof finish. It’s a delicate balance between practicality and feeling the wood [the wood being rougher will make glasses less level; a bit tricker to clean]. All our furniture is custom built from scratch, so there are a lot of modifications that can be made in our designs. This customer, for example opted for no bread board ends [the perpendicular boards at the ends that most of our tables have]. While you won’t have the original worn edges at the ends, you will be able to see the end grain of the long boards. See pics below!

We delivered this reclaimed boardroom table to a repeat Burlington customer last week. The beauty of not staining and the raw material being roughly the same age [from original Ontario forests] is we can match up orders from even years ago. In this case it was only a few years, but in some cases it’s customer from 10 years ago. The natural colour won’t change, which is why we’re against extensive staining [in some cases it’s unavoidable [turned legs; overly sanded componants] but the natural colour if always the best bet.
