Old Growth Pine is a lot different than new pine. In original natural Ontario forests the trees would grow taller rather than wider [although wider as well] so the grain was tight. New pine is commercially grown so the trees are space further apart [allowing for more sunlight] so the trees grows a lot quicker. Since noone is going to wait 100 years to harvest their bush there won’t be wood like this ever again, especially combined with the pioneer distressing.
