We offer several different options for mennonite built chairs. While not made out of reclaimed [with the amount of distressing we maintain and how “shaped/milled” chairs need to be building out of barnwood just wouldn’t be practical]. We delivered this reclaimed boardroom table to a repeat Burlington customer last week. The beauty of not staining and the raw material being roughly the same age [from original Ontario forests] is we can match up orders from even years ago. In this case it was only a few years, but in some cases it’s customer from 10 years ago. The natural colour won’t change, which is why we’re against extensive staining [in some cases it’s unavoidable [turned legs; overly sanded componants] but the natural colour if always the best bet.

While most of customers opt for the epoxy + polyurethane 2 stage finish [or a light epoxy thickness, medium thickness option], for the most extreme rustic look, we can skip the filling stage completely. While this will forgo a lot of practicality in terms of cleaning and durability, it may be the best option; just depends on how you are going to use to the table. As opposed to the hemlock barnwood we use, the old growth Pine is more reddish. The 2 stage epoxy + satin polyurethane finish pulls out the old wood patina. Check out the recent harvest table project we made for a Bolton home:
