Old growth [original Ontario forest] Hemlock is a rare sight. In Pioneer times, it wasn’t. We see it in plentiful amount of it in old barns. All our tables can extend up to 18″ at either end [total 3 ft extra]. Given the amount of distressing we maintain, center leaves wouldn’t be practical, so we only extend at the ends. We maintain the original distressing in the old Ontario barnwood we use, while making practical with modern clearcoat finishing. We design everything around the way it came out of the old barn. Within the frame style, which tends to vary a lot one project to another depending on customer preferences, we take this approach as well.
