Ontario Reclaimed Wood Islands

Islands make a great central feature. We create custom islands from scratch; using 2" barn floor board tops, 1" grainery board shelving [can be customized to 2" barn floor board], and rustic, distressed 4" x 4" windbrace legs. The base can be cabinetry, or open as seen in the pictures. If you already have an island and are just looking for a reclaimed lumber top, we can do that as well.

The 2 inch tops are made from reclaimed barn floor boards, also called threshing floor boards. The perpendicular bread edge boards on the ends ensure authentically distressed barn board edges on all sides. Any hand-hewn beams come from the structure of an old barn. Legs are made from original barn wind brace beams, which support the large, structural beams in a pioneer barn. All 1" thick material we use is from an old barn's interior grainery room, also called grainery boards.

When designing we keep in mind the dimensions (and shape) the raw material comes to us from the barn. This produces furniture surfaces that have nearly 100% original face distressing.
